Majority of hip-hop fans would probably be able to tell people specifically when they first fell in love with hip-hop, not me. However, I do know I had to be around the ages of 5,6, or 7 year old. When I was an adolescent my mother tried to actually shelter me from even listening to most hip-hop/rap songs. Instead of listening to the Hip-Hop and, R&B station’s on the radio that she would ordinarily listen to when I wasn’t around, she put on a pop station, or Radio Disney instead; even when I begged for her to put on one of the Hip-Hop stations’. I suppose she did not want me to hear any inappropriate content that was said in the songs. In my living room we had this thick 40 inch, silver samsung box television, and right beside it were two big cd racks with tons of rap, r&b, rock, and pop albums. I wanted to get the big version of the painting but, my mom brought me the small print version of it, and I was incredibly satisfied with that. The painting is called “ Hip Hop Culture” by Kolongi Productions it was made in 2002. Till, this very day I still keep this painting very close to me; the painting is taped on the bottom left of one of my bedroom mirrors which is right by my bed, and I admire it everyday. As a result of my love and passion, for not just hip-hop music, but for the entire hip-hop subculture, I always wanted to work in the industry. To be involved with the makings of the music that I love. That is why I decided to write about my love for hip-hop music. My mom put me on to the music, and the music influenced me to discover what I wanted to do with my life, and now motivates me on following my dream of working in the Hip Hop music
