Personal Narrative-I Was A Three-Sport Athlete

I consider myself pretty athletic. I was a three-sport athlete in high school. Even though I am only five foot two, I would often knock the boys over when my soccer team would scrimmage the boys’ team or when we played broom hockey in p.e. I played intramural basketball, soccer, volleyball, and tennis at college, some of them on co-ed teams. I took pride in my athletic abilities. One morning during my sophomore year of college a few of my roommates, some guys who lived in our apartment complex, and I were trying to think of something to do besides homework. I think it must have been Presidents’ Day, because we had a day off of school. People threw around a few different ideas. None of them sounded too appealing to most of us. Then someone remembered the local outdoor gear shop was renting winter gear at a discounted price to students for the weekend. Despite my sporting experience, I had never been any sort of skis before. I figured it could not be that hard. Sports, even new sports, came pretty naturally to me. One of the guys had been cross country skiing in the area before, and after we had all rented our gear, he drove us all out to the location. Everyone got out and put on their skis. I do not think I had even taken one step when I promptly slipped and fell on my behind. No one else in the group of about seven people
