From the time a child develops the ability to become potty trained, they shorty manifest the desire to mimic the individuals in their surroundings. The early years of a child’s life are extremely vital and will reflect their environment that molded them into who they are. There’s a saying that states, “It’s not where you come from but it’s where you are going,” but I disagree because you would not know where to go if you did not know where you came from. My childhood consisted of struggles, poor community, lack of communication, and the free financial programs provided by the government. When I was growing up in my home the only time the government was really brought up was when it was time elect a new president. All I was told was that the Republicans were rich white people that didn’t care about anyone but themselves. We needed government assistance because my mother did not make enough money working at Dollar General to be able to cover all the bills. When we did not have much food to eat we would reach out to family members. It did get to a point when our family couldn't help anymore we had to apply for food stamps so the government could help. Seeing how much we depending on the government as I child I realized without the government’s help I would be without a home, without electricity to keep warm, and without food to eat to keep a well-nourished body. The government in my eyes was the power source to continue my existence. When asking my mother who she were going to vote for the answer was definite. Republicans do not like nor care for the poor and or black people. This family will now and forever vote for Democrats. From that point on it was instead in my brain that the Democrats were the good guys and the Republicans were the bad
