Life is a Stage

The warmth of the bright lights, cascading down upon you, that gleam on the shiny metal, as you stand there ready, ready to receive the critique you have been anticipating for days. The judge looks at you, and the world stops. You’re nervous of course, but you know you did well. You practiced and practiced forever to earn this, but you did it and that’s more than can be said for many people in your position. Have you ever played an instrument before? You would be lying if you said no; anything can be an instrument if you want it to be. Music is for everyone and no one should feel like they can’t compose or play music or be satisfactory at it all it takes is practice. Music has opened up so many opportunities for me and other kids like me. I started playing saxophone in middle school and if I didn’t I would not have the same opportunities and ideas that I have now. Being in a concert band has given me the freedom to do things I wouldn’t have ever dreamed of before that. Everyone should take a chance and try out an instrument or a choir for at least a semester when they are in school, they may end up liking it more than they ever thought possible. I know I did. With music I have learned many life lessons and have grown so much as a person. I have reached out to more possibilities and more people. I started out with one saxophone and now I can play eight instruments. I would have never thought this possible if I didn’t start out with music at a young age and maybe I would have still gotten into music when I was older, but I definitely wouldn’t be the same person and have gotten the same opportunities if I started out with music at an older
