I remember the day when I landed in Charlottesville the place that I thought of as home. It was 17 August 2015. At first, this place felt so cozy and comfortable that I didn’t feel like leaving this place forever. The people were so welcoming; it was a treat to have chosen a college, which provides you a homely feel. If I remember it correctly, it was a warm Wednesday afternoon when I contemplated, is home the right place for me to grow? Moving to United States was a huge change in my life, being an introvert it was an excruciating challenge. The most difficult challenge of taking this leap was vanquishing my own psychological barrier – the sign that read, Mehul, you have never lived alone; you have no idea of managing life without your parents’ direct support. It’s perfect, said my right brain, it may sound clichéd but I fell in love at first-sight with the city. My left-brain, however, reprimanded the poignant side of the brain with the quote don’t judge a book by its cover. Infuriated by my left-brain, I travelled to New York and visited NYU’s campus in Greenwich Village. After the trip, I could sum New York City in one word – Access. Whatever type of job I want, I can get it. Whatever hobby I have, I can explore it. Whatever food I like, I can eat it. New York has it all. It is a dynamic core for commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, culture, entertainment, and cuisine. After seeing all of this my left-brain finally gave in. I convinced myself that this is the city and the university where I see myself developing into a successful and capable human
