The first Co-Curricular event I attended was the Harried Tubman Portrayal on Wednesday, October 26th from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Julia Ball Auditorium. Dr. Daisy Century acted out the life of Harriet Tubman. Gwynedd Mercy University has a theme of #MakeMercyReal which correlates with this event. Dr. Century started out as a science teacher before she took on her acting career. She retired early and began acting as many historic figures but this day, she was Harriet Tubman.
My primary goal for attending college is to be financially fit and also use the knowledge I’ve gained to help underprivileged youth achieve their goals. I come from a poor background where I have struggled to make ends meet. I didn’t receive any scholarships to attend college after high school so I skipped it. The cost of college is a burden that I couldn’t have taken. I used the motivation of when I took time away from school surrounded by people in situations I never wanted to be in.
Getting involved means being apart of something more, having the chance to met different people, helping out the community, but its also means learning more about who you are as a person. Starting off at Washburn University I plan to get involved right away, in activities or clubs that would help my academically and socially like the Hispanic club , Freethinkers and French club. I will set goals for myself and achieve them, some small some big. One goal I am pursuing right now is learning french and Portuguese, i plan on going to Brazil next year. School goals, are turning in my work on time, stay focused on any task that is given to me, making sure I understand what i need to do and how to do it.
During my first year at Florida State University my goal is to broaden my perspectives and become open to new ideas and thinking that differs from mine. I plan to push the boundaries of my comfort zone by participating and becoming involved in activities that I normally wouldn 't. My hope is that by l challenging myself I will benefit by being an improved problem solver and an exceptional communicator that will benefit me in my future.
The infamous answer to the question, “What is your primary goal for going to school?” is “to further my education, get a job, and be successful” such a cliché if I must say myself. My goal attending school is to make my family happy, as well as myself. In high school, I did not apply myself like I should have done because I was not sure if college was in my favor. Also, being the child of a single parent wanting to attend college seemed impossible, especially far from home.
Everyone has traveled a different road to get to where they are today. Some roads may have felt longer and more rough, but they were worth the ride. My road to literacy started out on what I would call a dirt road that had a steep incline. What I could not see at that time was that once I got to the top, I had a smooth ride ahead of me. If I would look back at how far I have travelled I would say it was worth it all the struggles along the way, but what is important is the sponsors I had that pushed me along the way.
I want to continue my education to get a good job that I love. I want to go to school to become a registered nurse, and someday my dream is to become a nurse anesthetist. This is a big dream of mine and I have been after it for some time. Being able to continue my education will allow me to get one step closer to this goal. When I'm in school I have goals I want to accomplish.
As a child, I had no father to guide me on the path to maturity. Even in the idyllic scene of a father and son playing catch, as I tossed the football onto the roof of my house by myself, the roof replaced the person that I was supposed to learn the essence of manhood from. Although my early and painful realization of his absence was distressing, I learned how to rise above my disappointment and become my own motivation. Throughout my life, I have been knocked down, but I was never defeated–that is what defines me as a fighter. Relentless in achieving my goals, I will myself to succeed despite all that deters me.
In my life, I’ve switched five different schools. One of these processes was challenging to fit in. In the year twenty fourteen I switched schools from Roberts Ferry to Hickman Elementary School. I came up to school that morning. It looked a little scary and intimidating.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
My long-term goals for the future include graduating a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and furthering my education by getting my bachelor 's degree in biochemistry, where I have already begun my education, and a minor in Spanish speaking, both I feel will benefit me greatly in my future in the field of health sciences by giving me an edge to get into programs that will get me to my goal, I then plan on attending medical school and a residency in neurosurgery. My ultimate goal is to be a board certified neurosurgeon and work to change peoples lives forever. When I was twelve, my grandma and I attended an exhibit at the Idaho Discovery Center on the human body and as soon as I caught a glimpse of what was behind those velvet curtains, my life
Nowadays, people need to set some personal development goals in their daily lives in order to improve themselves. A good personal development goal must has positive effects for oneself and for the world. My personal development goal is to learn a new part of Beijing Opera, which can help to develop a lot because it has many positive effects for me and the world around me. Learning Beijing Opera is a good personal development goal because it has a lot of great gains, such as gaining skill of planning, gaining physical wellness, gaining knowledge of Chinese traditions and culture. First of all, learning Beijing Opera can gain the skill of planning.
There are more than a hundred people who have graduated from high school to go to achieve their goals. Also, people who have achieve their goals could focus on their future career. My goals that I have to achieve are education goals, and my career goals, and reasons why I have chosen anthropology. My educational goal is to receive a master 's degree in archaeology because it is the only easiest degree that I can reach in order to achieve my dreams. But first, I was ordered to take the associate degree, so that way, it can be much more successful to learn the introduction than to skip ahead and not know anything from the past.
Having goals in life is a great way for people to grow and move forward. This ability allows people to have purpose in their life. One career goal that I am currently working on is to attain my Airframe and Powerplant license. Have this certification would allow me to work on many different types of aircraft and have many opportunities to do so. Included with these goals will be taking in to consideration the technology advances to come.
I check my watch as I race to catch my first ever Austin Metro bus home. My metro bus ride to school in the morning proved disastrous. Taking the southbound rather than the northbound bus had left me confused while waiting for the return bus and embarrassed while explaining the reason for my late arrival to school. It 's 4:33. Oh man.
