Late 2005 I was assigned to 2-35 Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI. I re-enlisted into the Army after almost a three year break in service. On my previous enlistment, I served in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment from the 82nd Airborne Division. All the new soldiers to include myself were standing in formation waiting on the Battalion Command Sergeant Major (CSM) to speak to us. I was the only Private First Class with a Combat Infantryman Badge, an Expert Infantryman Badge, and a combat deployment to Afghanistan.
In the 2nd Michigan Volunteer group(Reit 7), I was a nurse in the 1st battle of Bull Run. Later my group was moved into General George McClellan's army who was going to try and take
The tan sand around the bases with the growing green grass and old worn out cracked dugouts is where I would have been. The Albany baseball diamond was where me and my friends hung out. We would hit old worn out baseballs with the leather coming off of them and run around the aged bases and sleep on the old rickety metal things they called bleachers. The school right beside it also had a playground which we may or may not have supposed to be on. Dairy Dream was just across the street with the delicious smell of hot chocolate fudge and the nose tingling scent of vanilla ice cream that filled the air.
STL Fire By: Nicholas Whittington My baseball team really stinks! "That 's it!" I told my mom after two of my Knights games. " I can 't keep playing with the Knights.
I didn’t even know what cross country is before I came to this school. And by the end of the season, I was one of the best runners in the team. This transition didn 't come from nowhere. I was literally the slowest person in the whole team(including girls) when the season began. And I remembered what one of the girls in the team told me: Kenny, just go join another activity, there is not chance for you to make the APAC team.
I will always remember the fantastic experience that I had in Cooperstown last summer. As we entered the ballpark in our car, we could see the majestic baseball field. People were already working on the fields, making the grass sparkle and the dirt smooth. We drove down the consummately paved road to the barracks and as they came into view, I could see several of them. All of them right next to each other, identical.
After we waited for maybe an hour just to ge tinto the stadium. When we were walking up to our seats we can hear the loud crowd all over the stadium we could here the cheers when the Dodger were taking the field and also the boooos the Rockies were getting when they were up to bat. I thought to my self how would it feel if we were Rockies fans and we got screamed at when we would walk up to our chairs.
We got there before the team did and once they came out of the bus we got to get autographs and pictures with the players and coaches, my cousins and I even talked to some of them. Chase Daniel was my idol growing up and he was the starting Quarterback and I remember getting his autograph and talking to him. I also remember speaking to Sean Weatherspoon, he was the nicest, funniest, and humblest player on the team. Every time Weatherspoon would make a tackle all of the fans would always yell “spoooooonnnnn” as loud as they could.
Then we got to Ames and you could see the stadium it the distance. Making our way to the stadium was horrendous with all the traffic, but when we arrived you could tell it was game day. The parking lots were filled and people gathered to the parking lot by the hundreds or even thousands as it seemed to me. Everywhere I looked there was another person that I had never seen before in my life.
Listen my grandchildren, to the story of my past, the good and the bad, how your grandfather and I met, and the cruelty of the world around us. It was the date November 9, 1938. I was playing at my best friend, Rebecca’s house. Her house was a part of her father’s shop, which sold everything from shoes, to toys, to makeup, to clothes, anything you could ever imagine.
“Ok anyone got the How it Works?” Andy called out as his blue bulging eyes scanned the seats. “I do!” Linda screeched, Linda a woman in her mid 40’s, with hair dyed red, and some reading glasses proceeded to list out how NA meetings work. “Thank you Linda, who has the twelve traditions of NA?”
It was the middle of June and we are playing the second game of the World Series. We got here by doing well in the state tournament so all the teams are pretty good. Before anybody plays we all have a big party at the fields there were hotdogs and burgers and drinks. They had bounce houses and contests, then after an hour or so everybody exchanged team pins. We met all the other players from the other teams and just had fun.
I attended my very first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting last week. Prior to the open Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, I did not have prior knowledge to what it entailed. Social media, society and my peers had depicted a negative image in my head of how the meetings go about. Going into an unexpected and different environment made me nervous. The level of nervousness I was experiencing is abnormal.
We finally arrived upon the stadium and it was unreal to see everything out on the field for my team and our
The very next day I had a baseball game. It was at Liberty Shores in Linden at around 6:00. I was just shocked I made it to the game and was able to play in it. But I was the first on there because I was really excited and nervous for this game. I was so nervous that I just wanted to play amazing for my grandma.
