On Robert’s first day of being cancer-free, we headed down to the beach, to enjoy ourselves and celebrate. When we arrived, Robert ran to the beach and got in the water. He looked like a child, who was just given back his favorite toy. But for him he had just been given back his life, and his happiness. Seeing the joy in Robert, warmed my heart. Everyone around us seemed happy; the children were playing; the parents were laughing; the teenagers were surfing; and the grandparents were walking along the beach. All around us, there was happiness, romance, and excitement. The memories being made here, would last forever. As Robert and I sat on the beach, he laid his head in my lap. While we talked I ran my fingers through his hair. “Baby, I’m …show more content…
“Kathy, I’ll call you back later.” [Phone clicks] Walking throughout the house, I saw signs that he was here. His shoes were by the door, the lights were on, the open Fader magazine on the coffee table, a sprite bottle that was half empty, the television playing “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” and the refrigerator was slightly ajar. Confusion spread through my mind, which quickly turned into panic. As I moved into our bedroom, I heard water running from the bathroom. When I entered our room, I saw something in the conner of my eye. I rushed over to the bathroom, in our room. “Robert, Honey is that you?” Robert laid on the bathroom floor, directly under the sink. He laid in a small puddle of blood, and there was blood on the sink. As I touched his body, he was still warm and breathing very slowly. “Robert! All the clouds are free to live a care-free existence. Humans live in a world of sadness, heartache, and death. As I lay silently, I soon drifted into a deep sleep. [I awoke on a deserted beach. Gazing around me, something caught my eye. There was a man running towards me from the ocean. He was shirtless as he ran towards me, and the water shimmered as it slid down his chest and abs. I must be seeing things, this can’t be real. I rubbed my eyes and he was still running. As I took a closer look at the guy running towards me, he was in fact a young Robert. He looked 19 years old, which was around the time Robert and I first started dating. I looked down at myself and I was in fact younger as well. It was as if I entered a parallel universe. As he came near me, he picked me up and spun around with me in his arms. I felt like a princess in his arms, the magic of the moment could not be explained. Robert yelled out, “I love you, Jennifer Rose Sinclair!” A smile spread across my face, as peace spread throughout my body. The passion I felt when he kissed my lips, sent shivers down my spine, and my heart began to beat a little faster. Robert made me feel alive. Just like the first time I
