It all came down to the second to last game of the hockey season. The playoffs started and we had made it onto the semi-finals. The whole team began to warm up for the biggest game of the season. Everyone knew the magnitude of the game and what had to get done in order to win. The opposing team that we faced got ranked in the top five in the country and rolled through everybody they played. They beat almost every team that they faced all year including us twice. They crushed us both times and left us almost hopeless for the game to come. We finished warmups and proceeded to get ready in the locker room. The coach gave an extremely long speech to the team to get us pumped up and ready to play the biggest game of the season. He told us that the past results did not matter and that what we do today decides the end result of our season. He said that the opposing team had lots of talent and would not show any mercy in the game to come. Nobody really expected us to win and we all knew of the potential outcome before the game even started but nobody let that get to them. Then we get a fast break down the ice and our best scorer ends up on a breakaway with the puck. Everyone has the most confidence in him and knows that most likely he will score, and he does. The score gets to 1-0 when our team gets another making it 2-0 so we all get rolling with adrenaline and extremely pumped up. Then the other team calls a timeout killing all of our momentum, an extremely smart move on their part. The timeout fuels them and they score one going into the intermission between the second and third period. We sit in the locker room knowing that we have the advantage and cannot mess this
