The Thursday night lights beamed down on me as kickoff approached. It was the last game of the 8th grade football season and the last chance to make my mark on a personally rather ordinary season. We were playing Celina, a team known to be a powerful opponent. I was on the kickoff return team, playing on the far left side of the field and on that particular night we were set to receive the kick. The referee’s whistle pierced the warm and soundless autumn air.
As days went by it was time for the big game. I was never this terrified in my life. The score was going back and forth. First it was 1-0 then 1-1 and so on. But when it came to the bottom of the 8th.
On the edge of my seat I can feel my heart racing, just waiting for the clock to run down. We’re up by two and though I was watching the game at home, I could feel the energy of the crowd radiating through the television. Ten, nine, eight… the crowd begins to count down, my brother and I join in shouting, “FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, ONE!” The buzzer sounds and the roar of the crowd comes rumbling through the speakers. The Chicago Blackhawks have just won, for the third time in six years, the 2015 Stanley Cup Championship, and
For Sandusky Ohio, it was the hottest day recorded in the past ten years. At the time I was ten years old and my lacrosse team, Black Swamp had been dispatched into the championship game. If we won, a trip to Florida for the World Lacrosse Championship games were evident (ironically Sandusky Ohio was hotter than Miami Florida on June 29th, ironic). At the time I was someone who came of the bench, it was my first year playing travel lacrosse and had only begun playing the sublime sport sixth months prior. Attack was my position the first year I played, my objective
The game is about to begin. My sister and I go to the bottom and high five the girls. I thought to myself I am never washing my hands again. We go back to our seats.
Dakota Massey Mrs. Korando American Literature 19 Apr 2023 Mallard Vs. Johnson “The Story of an Hour,” by Kate Chopin and “Everyday Use,” by Alice Walker are two different stories, but they may have similar underlying themes. “Everyday Use” deals with an African American mother who, when her oldest daughter Dee comes home, must decide to take a stand. Dee wants to take the quilts that Maggie, the narrator’s other daughter, was going to inherit from their grandmother.
I have been playing Ice Hockey for 12 years now, and I have loved every second of it. Well, almost every second, I’m kind of a sore loser. However, I still love the game. I love how in a game, one play can change the entire atmosphere of the game, whether its a goal that lights up the crowd, a hit that keeps the glass shaking, or a bad call by the ref that has the entire arena booing at the guy in stripes. But most of all, I love how the game has a way of comforting those who play it, like me.
Hockey Has Changed My Life I believe in being active, dedication, and hard work. Those characteristics have gotten me to where I am today. Being active, dedicated, and hard working have truly helped hockey career, from third grade to playing High School Varsity hockey. I believe that being active has helped me numerous times.
During my short life, I have not had many life altering experiences; however, one thing that has changed me for the better is playing hockey. Since I started playing hockey in eighth grade it has been something I have become passionate about for various reasons. One reason is my love for the game in general, and more specifically for playing goalie, the one position that holds the balance of the scoreboard. The second reason is being a part of a team. This is important to me because it gives a strong sense of purpose to the player.
I could sense the butterflies creeping up into my stomach. It was the first day of golf tryouts and I was so nervous. I acted like I was not because I did not want to seem like I was scared. The air was dead, scorching and my butterflies were swarming. As I looked about, everyone around me appeared to be very good at golf, and knew exactly what they were doing.
It was a normal Friday afternoon and I was excited to get my weekend started like everyone else. I was pleasantly surprised when they said we were going out for dinner because we went out for dinner occasionally and usually something important was happening when we did. So I was super excited because I forget which restaurant it was but I really liked the place. So we sat down and we were getting ready to order and out of nowhere I don't know why i said it
There was a boy who went by the name jeffy he liked to play hockey and he was very good at it. He was about 5,10 had blonde hair with brown eyes, Jeffy was not the biggest kid he was pretty skinny. Everyday after school he would go to the Windom Arena and he would skate and practice playing hockey. One day after he was done skating he went upstairs to the dry land room and he was working on his clap bombs and and his top cheese snipes. When all of a sudden he heard a loud horn and a scream so he dropped his pucks and stick and quickly ran down stairs to see what was going on but when he arrived there was no one there.
Nickolas Hartman 1:24 PM (5 hours ago) to Paris, Alexis, Eliza All, It was awesome to hear about all the meetings and events coming together last week. We are less than a week out from several of our events and two weeks out from many of the rest. I look forward to seeing what we can roll out as a group and seeing the success of all of our events. Also a big thank you to those STUCO members who helped and ran the Julia Bargman run on Saturday. This a great event and has a huge impact on our community.
Good weekend I thought on hockey! I think there is some good players this year with positives looks on their faces playing hard and skilled . Couple of things I should mention because I think it 's important for you know that some of us DO reconise your hard work and time put into the team . At the same time you have limited resources for other area of the club.-in short you get a lot of things done for what you have to work with and by far are the hardest working
The game started on time, and my team played hard like always. As the end of the first half rolled around we were winning 2-0, as expected. My team and I took the field as the second half began, but I had no clue how much this second half was going to impact my life. It seemed like such an average day, but I couldn’t have
