Like anyone would be we were all nervous and we sat in a lounge for 6 hours, eventually it ended with my dad coming out of the room and explaining everything to us. Apparently TSA thought that we were carrying LSD and cocaine in our
Despite the drastic price increase. So, about 5 months later, I was headed to Boston. June 25th, I was dressed for success and ready to get on my first ever plane ride alone. After, an hour or so of lines and security, I was waiting and ready to board the plane.
Golden light from a Texas sunset illuminating stark white fields of cotton, green and yellow tractors leisurely making their way down the middle of Main Street, and a community that will always support you are just a few things one might experience if you came to my hometown in rural Texas. Matador, Texas isn't just a dusty old town in the middle of nowhere, it is a town that no matter who you are or what you are trying to do, hard work is always required; it is where I grew up from the day I was born, spent lazy summer days reading and writing abstract stories without distractions of people, traffic, or even the ever-present cell phone, and where I learned about a whole other side of society, one where the community gathers together for anything
El Paso and Ciudad Juarez lie side by side, but are separated by the Rio Grande. The border’s way of life relies on the dividing line. As a resident of Ciudad Juarez, I experience a blend of cultures on an everyday basis. However, in 2010 the unique culture of the city was darkened by the shedding violence in Ciudad Juarez. Ciudad Juarez came to be known as the deadliest city in the world.
This year during college summer break, my friends planned a trip to Dallas, TX to visit the place, where former US President “John F Kennedy was assassinated. President Kennedy was shot dead on November 22,1963 by Lee Harvey, Oswald. Dallas is a three-hour long drive from Houston, TX. All of us were excited for this trip. The trip was a success as for all of us it was a learning experience, as we visited the historical landmark of US history which has influenced us all.
The plane was much smaller than the ones back in England. I still remember when my dad used to take us on holidays all the fun we had as a family enjoying each others company. After saying all my good byes and boarding the plane I realised I might never see my family again. But thinking that it did not really hit me that hard, like I would miss them and all but never seeing them again didn't really seem to bother me.
Houston Have you ever been to Houston?I did last year when I visited my grandma’s house. When I was in Houston it was full of fun things to do. I asked my mother,”Which house are we going to first?”My mom responded,”Matagorda it’s six hours away,so go to sleep. ”so
You could hear some people snoring, and others giggling. We knew it was going to be a long 12 hours, but we knew it would be worth it in the end. Our first stop was in Salina, Kansas to stretch our legs, and use the restroom, and get snacks
I first notice the beachy of the tiny airport. It was so small you couldn’t even fit one plane in the terminal. My mom, Gunner, and I headed over to the baggage claim . While my dad went to go rent a Ford Fusion. I was standing around awkwardly twiddling my thumbs since my mom and brother didn’t need any help.
So many emotions piled up in my head, and my mind could not process anything. The fact that I was going to miss my family kept escaping from my mind. The one problem that circled my thoughts was about how different it would be without them. Once we entered the airport, it took what it felt like ages until we could have everything ready to go with my attendant.
My first trip to Las Vegas was the worst plane trip every, I had experienced all types of emotions from Norfolk to Dallas. In Norfolk my flight was delayed due to the weather, then another two hour delay in Dallas. All I wanted was to get to Vegas. On my flight I sat beside a man who never been on a plane. This guy behavior was the worst.
El Paso is a very culturally diverse city. Growing up around numerous traditions and life styles has affected the way I have grown up along with the way I view myself. El Paso is along the Mexican border which means that the Mexican culture has a grand impact on the lives and cultures here. This city has taught me how to be a more openminded person and it has forced me to learn a different language. Although I have acquired many positive characteristics, sadly I am not aquatinted with other ethnic groups.
One summer day, out of the blue, my dad decided to take us to South Padre Island. Summer vacation is always a stressful time for me. I’ve always wanted to experience something entertaining, but I never seem to enjoy trips with my family. We complain a lot and don’t get so well along. Everyone I know has really interesting vacation stories in which their families enjoyed awesome adventures and created unforgettable memories.
Having known our hostess family for a very long time, and Vancouver being only a five-hour flight away, it did not oppose a large issue seeing as I was twelve and she was almost Sixteen. On the day of the trip, we gathered our things and were driven to the airport by our parents. Eventually, after a lengthy lecture on behavior, safety, and using common sense and being smart; they finally let us go and we were free to roam around in the airport until the nearing time of our flight. As we walked toward our gate, where we would be
The Most Memorable Vacation A memorable vacation is one that you can never forget. I never thought I would build houses for poor people. It was one of my most memorable experiences in my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact it was my first time to go to a foreign country to help other people build houses.
