The most humbling place for me to be in BYU Hawaii because of my Kupuna. It is a great way to reflect back think about my ancestors made it possible for me to be in the place am on right now. Growing up I never thought about my ancestors; the impact they have on my family history. There is few reason I never care about my family history.
I survived my early life, which started out in the humblest of circumstances. I was born on the dirt floor of my mother’s hut in Dessie, Ethiopia. Mom was the only relative I ever knew, and she built our eight-foot (2.4 m) dome-shaped hut by herself, using sticks and mud that she covered with grass and leaves. Our community had no running water and no restroom facilities. Illness and death ran rampant in our kebele, or neighborhood. Food was very hard to find and impossible for us to purchase. My

With her last bit of effort, we trudged to a hospital, where my beloved, weary mom died. The hospital staff saved me from life in the streets and death by starvation by arranging for me to live in an orphanage in the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. My life changed in the orphanage after long years I was able to be adopted from a family in the u.s.
There is a big a reason why I think my mom made possible for me to in BYU Hawaii; she is my ancestors. My mother did all she can so I can survive and enjoy what life to offer. When things get hard my mother never give up on me. For example, she built the mud house by herself which to her few days to build for us to live in.
My beautiful mother taught me great principles as a young age that I would never forget. Not to give up on things enough when life through something that you don’t want. Always do your best in everything you do. Put others first before you. This true principle from my mom help me to set personal goal. When I came to America School was hard for me because of my ancestor example I was able to push myself until I get things
