It is a paramount objective of Walden University to create positive social change (which is intentionally practicing innovative ideas for the development and betterment of the society). The University is known for its value for integrity, truth, and honesty and expects all students to imbibe the culture of integrity, quality and self-centeredness, the school offers and teaches. Their expectation ranges from each paper submitted and every discussion made in the classroom between peers, staff, and coordinator to any part/phase of life. Academically, being a student of both international Relations and Public International Law, it is clear that making a change in a system is one of my major interests.

My grandfather, mother, and entire family were raised in Bellingham, Washington as was I. I can’t imagine going to any other school than Western Washington University. This past year has been a whirlwind. I had to decide which schools to apply to, take many tests, finish up a senior project, found a new passion, and lost someone close to me. I now realize that the only school I want to go to is Western. A few weeks ago I went to tour a few colleges in Eastern Washington.
My interest in graduate school is to receive the training and educational background that will compliment my professional and previous education experience, so that I can become an organizational leader in higher education. My goal is to use my understanding of leadership principles for consulting practices in construction management for training and development as well as instruction at the college and university level. I am influenced by this field because I believe that training and development in education and the work environment is predetermined by many influences which include: teaching philosophy, state and local districts, textbooks, instructors, government and professional organizations. Because all of these factors play a large part in what is taught in our school systems, I believe that it is a fine line between what is worth knowing and what is being taught
The following PhD proposal consists of seven main sections, which are: the background of the study, the statement of the problem, the purpose of the study, and the research questions guiding my study. Then the definition of the terms will proceed, where the workable definitions for my study will be identified; the sixth section will comprise the description of my research methodology, and it will be followed by the estimation of possible limitations of my research. Background of the study This sections includes brief explanation of the prerequisites which urged me to explore my topic, and the brief literature review, partially adapted from my Master's thesis.
Introduction This paper is to define and understand who I am as a student and what direction I need to take to complete my degree and pursue a successful career in life. I was born in St. Ann, Jamaica to hardworking parents and I was raised in the catholic church. I grew up thinking about becoming a cosmetologist but as I become older my direction shifted to law. Unlike many of the other professionals, my passion as I migrated to the states was law because it is a great security aspect and my desire to be in the court room is always something I love, and would love to help people who are unable to secure a lawyer. I do believe with my desire and determination I can make a difference in this world: I can see myself running a law firm in years to come, once I work hard and put in the work.
I am first generation college student. I started Florida Gulf Coast University four years after I migrated from Jamaica along with my Dad, in pursuits of “an opportunity”- something that is very scarce outside of the continental United States. Before coming to FGCU, I went to Miramar High School; I graduated with honors and promised my Dad that within four years I would bring home my bachelors degree in Finance. August 14th, 2013 marked move in day at Florida Gulf Coast University. My first few weeks at Florida Gulf Coast University introduced me to the dreariest days and nights of my life.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
I am truly grateful for my experiences at Rutgers. Not only have I been able to meet and build close relationships with a variety of people from different backgrounds, but I also met people from my own background which I don’t often do. I think what amazes me the most is how much I can relate to my friends who are of a different background than me. It is great feeling being able to relate to one another through personal experiences despite the difference in how we were raised up and our practices at home. However, what I appreciate the most is those very differences in our cultures because it great opportunity for me and a friend to learn from one another.
With all the six years I’ve been at GCU I never had a counselor who never told me they couldn’t help. On top of the lack of assistance from her she really didn’t give me good advice. She wanted me to drop my new class and owe. I told her that was not what I was wanting to do but for her to assist me with informing my instructor,so that they all know what I was going through at the moment.
During my first year at Florida State University my goal is to broaden my perspectives and become open to new ideas and thinking that differs from mine. I plan to push the boundaries of my comfort zone by participating and becoming involved in activities that I normally wouldn 't. My hope is that by l challenging myself I will benefit by being an improved problem solver and an exceptional communicator that will benefit me in my future.
A course called “An Introduction to the research process” is provided to the university which will help me immensely in improving my research abilities. I plan on gaining as much knowledge as I can that will help me

The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
