We were down by 1. They had a very selfish player that had almost half of their points. So we figured if we just lock him up when knew we were gonna win. He scored about 5 more points to start the 3nd half so by that time i just started guarding him. I knew he was weak minded and just wanted to shoot over me
And of course there is that one jokester in the team that makes everyone laugh which made our team better and more special and unusual. But, before the game starts, one of our players couldn't play ,and had to watch the game on stands because he was younger than most of us and can go to tournament next year too. He was half-crying and if I was him, I would probably cry too. So, my teammates and coaches made him feel better. After watching a video to get ourselves ready for the game, we headed down the hall to the arena, to play the first very important game.
As we were heading for the goal on another break away, the opposing team kicked it out of bounds by the goal. My sister Bailey, who is also on the team, set the ball up for a corner kick. Her kick was a beautiful, high, hard drive to the front of the box. I remember thinking of my trainer’s words, “Anything is possible”. I jumped up at the right moment.
One time in the stands on the north side of the old gym I had a basketball in my hands I threw it at a ref but didn’t get ejected from the game. It was times like this I will remember and cherish in my
We went back and forth scoring on each other, every mistake costing the other team a touchdown. It came down to the final two minutes in the game we were tied with them. Our coach had said that we need a stop, somebody needs to make a play. Little did I know at the time it would be me to make it.
Down by 3, 10 seconds to go, Coach O 'Neil called our last time out. “Listen here guys,” coach said, “we need to foul to stop the clock and to make them shoot free throws, if they miss them we need to run down and shoot the 3 to tie.” We walked out ready to play. The other team passed the ball in but it didn’t go to there guy it went flying over his head.
Almost immediately after I was subbed out, Edison scored with 30.6 seconds left. We failed to score again. 25-26, 23.3 seconds left. Edison ran down the court with the intention of running the clock out, but they made a bad pass! Destin made it down the court before everyone else, and Jayden chucked him the ball!
Just 2 minutes left the sun half way set, the crowd cheering and most of all the scouts not blinking paying attention to every detail, play and decision each one of us makes, I see the ball come off the rim and the other team grab the rebound and their other play already across the court just past half court I knew what I had to do. With no thought or anything I break out running across the court chasing their player knowing he was going for a fast break lay-up I knew I could catch there was no doubt about it but the question was would I block the ball or not I can feel the eyes staring at us curiously wonder what will happen. Just like I predicted I see his hand turn upside down getting ready to lay it up I take 2 more steps and leap as hard as I can towards the ball staring at the ball and nothing else all I cared about was saving my team from those 2 points and looking good on the court and on that stats sheets, that was a decision I would later pay for. I did what I had practice and done hundreds of times before at the park I swat my hand towards the ball as hard as I can, I hear when my hand hits it and it bounces off the backboard not thinking about my landing instead of preparing for the fall I prepare myself to start running back across court but that wouldn’t happen when I landed I felt a pop in my knee’s
The time I almost got cut from the basketball team.the first day of tryouts I didn’t come because I didn’t have my physical at the time.but when I got it I was there and lots of people were and only fifteen could qualify. On the first day all we had to do was shoot and show our form. But we did do something a little fun you had to get a partner and perform some moves on him. So the coach said “go” me and my partner which was Robert.
I ran to second just and made it just as the ball made it there. I stood there dusted of pants and looked at my mom as she was standing there cheering at the top of her lungs. This
At 4:00 p.m., the ref was going to start the game and at first, it was 7 vs. 11 for the first three minutes until more players from our team showed up. I could tell by looking at the coach that he was disappointed with the team. It was close to halftime and they were winning 2-0. Throughout the last ten minutes of the half, I was pressuring the other team.
“I’m sorry, but you didn’t the make team.” A phrase that I’ve heard too often. Ever since elementary, I’ve tried to be more than just books. I have tried to be more than the just the little smart girl that everyone saw me as.
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is a graphic memoir that reveals the life of a woman growing up in pre-revolution and post-revolution Iran, as well as her experiences in Western countries. In this book, Marjane recalls and highlights historical events that affect her life during her upbringing in Iran. These include the oppression of the Shah, along with the rise and effects of the regime. These events are integrated into Persepolis in order to showcase their effects on Marjane and the other citizens of her country. It was 3 minutes left in the game and we were now down by five points. Our opponents had the ball and they missed their shot. So now it is ours and we are running down the court. I key of the court and the ball is being thrown towards me, I react quickly and grab the ball and score two points. Now we are down by 3.
As soon as I got the ball, I started to race down the court pounding the ball as I was dribbling. I squared up facing the hoop getting ready to take my shot. I raised my arm up, releasing the ball with my fingertip with poor form and arc. The ball went flying towards the hoop very fast. The sound of the net went swoosh
