Personal Narrative: My Love Of Football

I couldn’t wait any longer, I kept counting down the hours in my head, I could barely sleep last night because I was so excited. Game time was seven p.m, although I got to the field a little after one p.m because I wanted to watch my friends play in their JV soccer game. Some of my teammates started showing up at the field a little before three o’clock. We practiced for about half an hour to warm-up a little and to go over some things that we would need to know for the game (no coaches, just the players). At about 4:30 everything I was dreaming of and thinking about was starting to become a reality. It was time for specials to go out onto the field and practice for about 20 minutes, before the rest of the team comes out for full team practice. The lights were just getting turned on, and families were starting to come into the stands. Students were yet to arrive. At the end of the chant a large part of the student section threw baby powder into the air for white out. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life -- until the powder got in my mouth and in my nose. No one cared whether it was allowed or not, and I don’t think the athletic director or principal cared either.
We looked great by the end of the first quarter, as the score was 7-0, but we knew we could do better. We turned it up another notch and the score at halftime was 21-0. Everyone was thrilled with the score, yet the team and coaches know that we should have been winning by more.
About halfway into the fourth quarter I went in for one play of defense, then a whole series of offense. I was very happy that I got a chance to play during Cougar Night. My friends were calling my name while I was on the field, which was pretty awesome. The seniors said was going to be the most memorable game that we will ever play in our lives, (besides when we win states, of course) and I think they were right. We dominated that football game, from the first play to the last play. We held Morris Hills to 43 yards of total offense, Chatham had over 350 yards of total
