It was the last inning in our all-star game, and we were losing 10 to 8. Our team had 2 outs and we couldn’t get the third. Our pitcher was doing bad, throwing all balls, while all of us in the field were tired, ready to fall asleep at any moment. There goes another walk. They score again.
“Successful students had one or more teachers who were mentors and took a real interest in their aspirations, and they had an internship related to what they were learning in school” (Friedman 1). A mentor by definition is, an experienced and trusted advisor. Having a mentor can set people apart from one another. It’s more affective for a man to be a mentor to another man. On Monday, both Mr. Levine and our paralegal were gone, so it was just my on-site mentor, her husband (who was recruited to help out), and me in the office. For a large portion of the day, I was on the computer and answering phone calls. The phones weren 't too crazy, thankfully. My main purpose for being there was to help my on-site mentor as much as possible. I don 't know how to do even half of what the paralegal does, but I knew enough to help with standard office stuff, like scanning papers and drafting subpoenas to be sent out (mostly for personal injury cases, but for family law cases as well).

She would say that she a Graphic Designer that came from Industry, not “Academia.” She used to freelance by doing Identity/Branding for companies (designed The Guitar Center logo) and taught at Universities. But she left all of that to teach at El Camino College (ECC) and is a volunteer for “Meals on Wheels.”
My body cried like a newborn babe, afraid in an unfamiliar place. Immediately, my fresh eyes were greeted by waves of black hair, friendly smiles, and the Japanese language. I had arrived in Japan. I did not know the language or the customs, but I dove right into the dark pool. I was determined not to let the unknown drown me.
“Oh please! You guys say that you want to move into this new house because it looks great. The real reason is because the commute to my therapist is much faster. I’m fine mom and dad! I don’t need antidepressants nor do I need a therapist.
A mentor is an individual with advanced experience and knowledge who is committed to giving support and career advice to a less experienced person. Life is full of many experiences. These moments in life are shared with so many people, including, friends, family, and sometimes even a mentor. By definition, a mentor is “an experienced and trusted advisor”, but a mentor is much more than that. To me, a mentor is a person that you can look up too. It is not necessarily someone you want to be exactly like, but they inspire you to do great things.

Starting over Starting over might be easy when you are young, but if you are middle age and already have a stable and calm life, it is very hard to start over. My family and I moved from Egypt to The US three years ago, so we had to start from scratch. We found systems in the US are different from my country. I was a science teacher in my country, so I tried to find a job in the educational field, but there were a lot of requirements to get a job as a teacher.
