Meet my Jazz band. This is a picture of us in New Orleans my junior year during spring break to play Jazz. I decided upon this picture because this band has had such a profound impact on how I frame my future. My connection with music through the piano has been fostered ever since I could reach those shiny black and white collection of keys. Starting at the age of four, playing the classical music of Mozart and Bach was what my musical background was founded upon, with tangible medals and accomplishments as achievements.
Overview Shingles is a painful rash that develops on a side of the face or body, it will form blisters that will scab over in around 7 to 10 days. Shingles or Herpes Zoster, its more scientific name, is common virus and it is caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chicken pox. After a the chicken pox virus has been resolved it enter a dormant state in certain nerve cells of the body although for reasons not entirely clear the virus can awaken years later and will travel down the nerve path and cause shingles, the location of the rash depends on where the virus was dormant. As I traveled through each grade of the Croton-Harmon High School, my personal and academic goals helped to me to really flourish. These goals may have varied from year to year because a freshman is a little different from a senior, but they basically had all the same concept: I wanted to strive in school to be the best all-around student I could be, constantly stay focused and immerse myself in the Croton community. By setting my expectations and goals very high, I could flourish academically and really work to my full potential. By following these goals in school I pushed myself very hard and tried to take classes that would challenge me as well as help me to flourish as a student.
Leadership: taking the initiative to establish a clear vision, share it with those whom are being led a certain direction, and coordinating all interests to accomplish glorious victories. A drum major is not simply the person who conducts the marching band, they are the one responsible for taking on a magnificent leadership role; they must be role model for all of its members and it is their job to make each and every member feel valued, no matter what their position may be. As a drum major, I would strive to lead the East Haven High School North Branford High School Co-op marching band to victory on and off the field. Out of the three activities I participate in at Anson High School, the National Art Honor Society would be one that has impacted me the most. When I was first put into the art class my sophomore year, I tried my hardest to drop the course. The reason being is because I knew for a fact I would not be able to fully enjoy the course with my lack of artistic skills. After being in the class for a month and completing my first art assignment, I realized how much talent I actually do possess. A passion for art was quickly created over the course of time.
It was as simple as that. A love for harmony, both in music and in life washed over me. It was this love that guided me through my freshman year of high school. My artistic side grew, expanding past simply the choral arts. As the spring approached, excitement grew in the arts department.
The experience at school was a defining life moment for the transition because it caused me to be an independent individual. The school had a very demanding level of study with a very burdensome load of work. With this big work load I was taught, and learned, how to work at professional level in both my academics and my artistic requirements. I also had to learn how to get my work done and also practice my vocal technique in a timely fashion while keeping my mind and body healthy.
I meet ambassadors from around the world, and I was able to speak with amazing musicians and performers. While in Hawaii, I snorkeled in Hanauma Bay, hiked Diamond Head volcano, and visited Pearl Harbor. I will never forget the friendships that I forged all because of music. I began as a naïve middle schooler and transformed myself into a confident performer and student. I now carry a sense of pride because I finally completed my dream.
My Theme Song Songs can connect with how we feel and our experiences. Music has been a major part of my life ever since I was just a toddler. For me music has helped me express what I am feeling and who I am as a person. My therapy has been music, it has helped me through almost every problem I have faced. With listening to the song lyrics, we can get a true understanding of what the artist is trying to tell us.
Working as much as I could with him, my voice improved drastically, but my sound had not completely formed to my goal tone. Continuously and slowly improving, I learned various techniques and exercises that formed the foundation of my voice, the air support from the diaphragm. The only obstacle that prevented me from progressing more was the natural anchor of my voice still changing, which prevented it from having a developed tone. At the end of the year for auditions, I decided to try out for Symphonic band, the top band in our school. Because I was in one of the last bands, a lot of people told me this would be very difficult to do. When the results came in I found out I had made symphonic. I was very proud of myself with how much I had improved within just a year. I even got the Academic Excellence for Concert 2 band award at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.
Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit.
At a young age, I constantly wanted to express myself through music. I always found a way to incorporate music into my daily life, whether it be by blasting my favorite music, creating my own funky songs, or even having the opportunity to participate in my elementary school choir. My love for music actually took flight after I had decided to join my elementary school choir, however, in my opinion, it is not the most transformative moment in my life. After elementary
A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
