Being enrolled at the University of Davis is a dream come true. I am able to study to become a Mechanical Engineer, something I am passionate about and willing to work hard for.
However, my current progress does not reflect my dedication nor does it show my potential. I did not meet the requirements to pass my calculus class, because I did not get the proper help I needed, which caused me to fall behind and resulted in my failure. It is entirely my fault for failing and I am forced to live with it. I was given multiple resources to help benefit me; however, I failed to use them correctly. I was able to attend office hours, workshops, and tutoring hours, but I did not realize I needed help until it was too late. I am resentful for what I have and have not done and want to prove why I belong at this university. While in Davis, I realized the difficulty of transitioning from a highschool to a major university. Coming from a town where education was not considered important, I was unaware how classes, grading, and tutoring functioned in Davis. Overall, I was not sure how to properly be prepared for class. So I asked for help from Peer and Room Advisors, and discovered the resources Davis offered to students. Alas, workshops and tutoring were not beneficial because I had a midterm early in the quarter that did not allow me to take full advantage of my newly gained knowledge. I believed I

I built CAD models, bikes, machines, and robots enjoying every moment. I just need the proper place to further my education so I can live up to my potential. Davis is able to offer me the proper education I need; however, it will be difficult because I need to retake a class which affects when I am able to take other classes. I will also have to take classes over the summer so I do not fall behind, but I am willing to do all of this because I am passionate about
