Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Bahamas

Bahamas My family and I went to the Bahamas on April 19, 2015. The Bahamas is an island located of the coast of Florida. We flew into the Nassau, Bahamas and stayed at the Atlantis Resort. We went because my Dad was getting honored for being with the Principal Financial Group for 20 years, but that was only two days out of the trip and we went for eight. A few weeks we left for the Bahamas my whole family had to renew our passports because the last time we used them was when I was in second grade and we went a=on a cruise. Friday night Right after school I had to go to the soccer

Fishing on the ocean was way different than fishing here in Iowa. Instead of anchoring you slowly move the boat with your fishing line in the water. The line goes about 50 feet down so the big fish can see it. Trying to reel a fish in is a lot of work. I tried a few times and both times my brother had to take over half way through because your arms get so tried because of how heavy the fish is and there is also a lot of line put out. When we were done we went back to our hotel room, showered, and then went out for dinner off the resort.

Tuesday

We went off the resort again and walked around this little area that had a bunch of sales. Everyone kept asking if you wanted a shirt or told you that you would look pretty in some of their jewelry because they were trying to sell it to make a living for their family. After a while we went and had lunch than walked around for a few more hours, than we went to get some groceries for the rest of the week.

I had been bugging my dad, since the day we got there, if we could go swimming with the dolphins. He told me that he walked to the Dolphin Marina while we were at the water park on Monday. He said that they were full but if they had any opening they would call on Wednesday. We walked down to the lobby to meet up with some other families who were also there because of Principal Financial Group. That’s when I saw a sign saying ‘Deep Sea swimming with dolphins,’ at that moment I got really excited and I looked at my mom and I said “ We’re going to swim with the dolphins!” She just laughed and looked at. Then my oldest brother, Brady, said that my parents had been planning this for a while. The dolphin cay was on a different private island, so we got on a boat and we were on our way there. Once we got there we learned a few things about dolphins and they also told us how to act when around them. We got fitted for the right size of life jacket, and then we jumped in the water. In the water it was my family plus four other people that I didn’t know. There were two dolphins with us, Princess and Zoey. First they would swim around you and you and you got to pet them, then two people at a time would swim to them and you would feed them, dance with them, and then they would give you a kiss. I hate fish and refuse to touch them because they are so gross so when it was my turn to feed the dolphin, I couldn’t do it. Even though I didn’t feed it,
