Personal Narrative: Pop Cult Job

On a cold January evening, a goal was set to ace an on the spot surprise interview I got with the Pop Cult store manager at the mall and finally get a job doing something that I love. With this goal I learned many things and was supported and cheered on by people who cared about me as I waited for the call to see if I had overcome this challenge. It was any other day spent with my two friends, Justin, and Alex, driving around to find something to do with our free time. We decided it would be best to go to the mall since we all had some sort of allowance to spend on whatever we desired. Of course I was nervous, but my fiery will and confidence to succeed wasn’t about to let my shyness get in the way of the long sought after goal of landing my first job. During the interview my companions silently cheered me on from afar, waving and giving me thumbs up for support. Afterwards they congratulated me, as it was obvious I did a good job at making a good impression and the manager was relatively happy with my answers. For all we knew, I had the job in the bag, it was sure to be mine, and nothing was going to shake my high hopes. That was my first mistake, expectations set too high can cripple the spirit if things don 't work out as planned, which mostly, they don 't. I learned that after not receiving the call I was promised by the manager himself on the day he set with his own words, to not get my hopes up so high for anything that I wasn 't ready to lose or fail at. My second mistake, even if you are taken down from the horse 's back, you should always get back on and keep going, which I didn’t do until my friends helped me realize that. The other point I learned was that maybe my answers weren 't up to par with the manager, even though it seemed like it. I spent the next week learning better ways to ace an interview, a few things being to know the material, relax, and stay
