Hi Reneld, On Thursday, June 8th, I had talked to an advisor about schedule revision. She said that I do not need to revise my schedules, since there was a mistake with my program completion; that I am working on Associate of Arts Degree instead of AS2 degree. She said she already notified you about this. Have you received this notification?
In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne is seen as a disgrace for the town. The “A” on Hester’s chest forces her to feel like she has no independence, since she is not seen like a typical person; she does not feel like she
However, through many years of serving the community, she gave the letter a new meaning, “able.” To Hester and the community, this meant that Hester had the ability to help anyone in need. “Hester had allowed her imagination to run free, dressing her daughter in an oddly cut red velvet tunic, richly embroidered with gold thread” (7.159). In this quote, the narrator is pointing out the resemblance shared between the scarlet letter A that Hester wears on her bosom and Pearl, a living form of the symbol.
Changes I have grown academically because I have learned how write essays better. When Ms.DeVries was here she helped me a lot with my writing and gave me a strategy to catch my mistakes quicker. No Red Ink has helped quite a bit. I have been reminded of a lot of grammar rules thanks to No Red Ink and I have found out how to use punctuation properly. I have also gotten better at problem-solving in Algebra 1.
Today I am going to be reviewing what can only be known as one of the most influential sitcoms of all time, "F.R.I.E.N.D.S." This sitcom started in 1994 and ran 10 glorious years, with the final episode airing on May 6, 2004. The show takes place in New York City, following the lives of 6 friends, and how their lives intertwine with one another. I have been watching this great sitcom on Netflix for a few weeks and I am in the middle of season 8. The latest episode that I watched was called, "The One Where Rachel Has A Baby: Part 1." In this episode well it is exactly what they title says.
Scarlet “A” In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter there is no other vigorous personality like Hester Prynne. Hester was made out to be a shameful person who would never be pardoned of her sin. Hester is an empty puritan woman who commits adultery with a minister and has a daughter from her deceitful union. She goes through wearying passage from sin to salvation, but always seem to find her identity.
October 14 7:07 am: The raindrops glisten as i walk along the road listening to my walkman. “another day another blunder” i thought to myself. when im a minute away the bus drives right by me. “oh crap” i pull out my phone to call my parents. When I get to my bus stop I like all my parents and they come pick me up but when they before they do that they yell at me like every other day when I get to school I go straight to the band room to drop off my bass clarinet.
Hester’s “A” was red made from a cloth that was not of nature, while Pearl’s “A” was green and made from a natural substance. With the rules of dark romanticism, this shows that Hester’s “A” represented the evil in nature and
In Spanish, it means to many letters. It means sadness, it means waiting. It is like the number nine. A muddy color..."(Cisneros 10). The explanation of this quote is when Esperanza is describing her name into what it means.
Hester thinks of the letter “A” as a strength for her, not a weakness
To me the “A” symbolizes hard work, morality, and poise. Hester came a long way in the Puritan town. In this passage we see conflict over and over again between all of the characters. Reverend Dimmesdale says
The scarlet letter is originally a symbol of shame. Instead the scarlet letter becomes a symbol of identity to Hester. The letter’s meaning shifts as time goes on. Originally it marked Hester as an adulterer. The letter “A” eventually comes to stand for “Able.”
Most readers are entangle in the meaning of the letter A, only adulatory of Hester Prynne? No, it is not that simple. Firstly, the letter A is represent angel. Hester Prynne didn’t harbor a deep resentment for the punishment and abuses, instead of that she still treated nice and gentle to others. Secondly, it is able.
With Hester changing her ways and helping the poor, the community changed, “They said that it meant Able; so strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman’s strength” (Hawthorne 168). While the community originally viewed the “A” as a symbol of sin, they began to see it too as a symbol of being “Able” because all that Hester Prynne had overcome. The Scarlet Letter had many examples of symbolism, but none were more significant that the letter “A”
