Personal Narrative-Rehearsal

After I got my stuff there we had to go down to rehearsal in the Neumann Auditorium, this took about an hour and a half. The cool thing is that after that rehearsal everybody came and then we got to record all of our songs! We would sing them until they were as close to perfect as we could get! Sometimes we did a song once, sometimes we did it three times. Almost 2 hours later we were finally done recording and camp was over. It was a bittersweet moment for me because I had a really good time at camp, but at the same time I wanted to go home so I could watch Netflix. Once I got back from camp practice wasn’t over. I worked on my music at home, as well as at school, before even school started! Gasp! Once school started, we practiced non-stop. …show more content…

It was really interesting because sometimes I would sing lower than Collin! It was weird at first, but at this point I’m used to it. Now we only practice once a week with Cornelius, since there are multiple groups that need to practice! A lady by the name of Mrs. Crawford would come in during the week, in the morning, and Cornelius would give us times to have lessons with her. Pratice, practice, practice, it was all I could think about. ‘I Will Lift Mine Eyes’, measure 14. “Why can’t I find that note?”, I ask myself, in frustration. I knew the songs fairly well, but when there are big events like these, I tend to get nervous the day of. Rest, I need rest. But I can’t, because of school. I have so much going on; biology, geometry, …show more content…

We all frantically used the sticky notes until they were gone. Then came plan B, paper clips. After we got done marking our music, we ran through the cuts. The songs were in this order; ‘I Will Lift Mine Eyes’, our solo pieces (mine was ‘I’m Gonna Sing ‘Til the Spirit Moves in My Heart’), ‘O Filii Et Filliae’, ‘Make Our Garden Grow’, then lastly, ‘Baba Yetu’. I felt pretty confident with most of these songs. But the week before auditions I kept on messing up with a part in ‘I Will Lift Mine Eyes’, which I found out that morning was in the audition cuts, which made me a little paranoid. We got through all of the cuts except for ‘Baba Yetu’, but that one was probably the easiest song out of all of
