Personal Narrative It was a cold November Friday. The sun was hidden behind a thick layer of clouds as it usually is most of the winter in Michigan. I had just been picked up from St. Martha, the very first school I ever attended. The car ride home seemed to be very different than any other. I didn’t think much of it at the time but looking back I believe it was very foreboding. Eventually I arrived home from school and removed my mittens and jacket in preparation of my typical after school snack. I made my way to the kitchen. Step by step I was approaching the kitchen. Little did I know that the news I was about to hear would be the beginning of a new path in my life. I was only four years old at the time and still very oblivious to many aspects of the outside world. One of the things I had not yet experienced was a game of ice hockey. Ever since the day I began walking I was taught how to play baseball, and I was yet to venture outside of the sport. I wasn’t necessarily the most athletic kid due to my eating habits and the fact that I still carried a lot of my “baby fat”. So I began eating and explaining to my mother what I had been doing that day in school, usually showing her the picture I had drawn. The snack continued as normal up until my mother started explaining how her and my father had a surprise for me. She went on to explain how my Grandfather had tickets for the ever so historic University of Michigan VS. Michigan State hockey game. Unfortunately my grandfather could not make it into town for the game, so he decided to offer the tickets to my father and I.
