December 3 2015 was the Newton Railers seventh grade basketball team second away game. I was waiting all day for the basketball game it seemed like the day was endless. Finally 2:50 came up on the clock to let me know it was time to leave class and get ready to get on the bus. I got all my gear and got on the bus. I put my headphones on a got pumped for our game.
The tan sand around the bases with the growing green grass and old worn out cracked dugouts is where I would have been. The Albany baseball diamond was where me and my friends hung out. We would hit old worn out baseballs with the leather coming off of them and run around the aged bases and sleep on the old rickety metal things they called bleachers. The school right beside it also had a playground which we may or may not have supposed to be on. Dairy Dream was just across the street with the delicious smell of hot chocolate fudge and the nose tingling scent of vanilla ice cream that filled the air.
Today is the second game of the, 2014 baseball state tournament, held in Wahpeton ND. My team and I are so pumped! We get to play our rivals, Fargo. We only hate them, because we play them so much. We drove down to Wahpeton in groups within our team.
I had a baseball game against the White Sox. When I got down there I found out I wasn’t pitching first, so I waited till it was my turn to pitch and when it finally happened it was 5-5 in the top of the 4th and I pitched a no-hitter. Finally it was the bottom of the 5th and still 5-5 and I came up to bat against Kaden Eugenio and he threw it right down the middle
Key. Session1.Journal In my young life, I have been through many experiences that have altered my path and my thinking in some fashion. There is one experience in particular that stands out the most. I was a 16-year-old student athlete with no real worries or responsibilities.
Whenever my mom has company at her house, guests always ask about the plaque that hangs in the living room on the wall. It reads Championship Mvp, 14-0 season, Jonesboro Wildcats. My mom always smiles and says, “Ask Markus about it.” I don’t mind telling people about the championship game. It is after all one of my fondest memories playing sports.
“Unfortunately, Jack, there will not be many opportunities for you this year.” Seconds after being told I had made the varsity baseball team, I did not expect my coach to so bluntly tell me I would be spending more time watching the game than playing it. Our state ranked team had a pitching staff full of Division 1 commitments and future MLB draft picks, and I was being told I did not measure up. The bench became my best friend.
Championship game day, the game started off good and we were really close, tied as a matter of fact until the bottom of the sixth it was the last inning we had to hold them to go to extra innings. One runner got walked the next got a hit so the first runner got to third then we got two outs. Then their best hitter comes up and it was a full count and he hits a single and they win. Now Briggs and I were very competitive, so we took it pretty hard.
Harper’s first full year without injury came last year where the 23 year-old played in 153 games. The league found out fast that if you give the emerging superstar a full year, you can take the “emerging” part out of the equation and just call him a superstar. His 2015 season read like this; .330 avg, .460 OBP, .649 SLG, 42 HRs, 99 RBI and 38 doubles.
In the past, the face of baseball was scattered but pretty easy to find. We’ll start this in the ‘90s—because that’s when I was born, so yes I’m a millennial and like the bat-flip—but I’ll talk about that later. Let’s start in the ‘90s where baseball was quote, unquote reborn with Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire hitting a homerun every other time they stepped to the plate.
First home run Crack! The ball flew off the bat and went as high as a bird in the sky. Aaron is a young 11 year old boy who loves playing baseball whenever he can. Every Time that he would step up to the plate he was always swing for the fence and dreamed about hitting the ball over and seeing all the fans cheer as he rounded the bases. All of times Aaron had played he never had home run but was always close sometimes hitting the wall just short of the ball going over it: but today that was about to change.
Everyone 's at least broken a bone or injured themselves before right? Well this is one of those tragic stories where I unfortunately injured myself. It all started way back in the 5th grade and all my friends and family know I love & play the game of baseball. The baseball season for the little league I play for is about to begin in about 1-2 weeks.
For a young baseball player one of the highest goals to achieve is hitting a homerun -for me that was all I wanted. I already achieved most of what I wanted in baseball, and one of my proudest was a no-hitter, but it was no home run. When I first realized how bad I wanted this feat was one night after a practice where all we did was just hit. The majority of my teammates hit at least one homerun that practice, but me I hit the fence but never was able to send one over. The car ride home after the practice was horrible, I was a mess.
I don’t remember the exact date, but it was during my freshman year, after a wrestling match against Kentwood high school. We were the two best wrestling teams in our division. So, knowing how big this match was, the whole wrestling advertised and promoted it all week. Our efforts paid off because that following Friday the stands were packed. Students from both schools came to support, but one side was going to leave disappointed.
My Experiences in Softball Crack! That was the sound echoing off my bat. Down the baseline I went running, turning first base looking to see where the ball was. Sliding into second base, I was safe. I stood up and heard the roar of the crowd.
