Personal Narrative: The Bus Ride To Pillager Lake

The bus ride to Pillager Lake was short and peaceful, compared to most bus rides. It was of course bumpy, but that just seems to make a bus ride funner. The ambiance of the bus felt awkward, almost alien. Like we weren't really meant to be there, or nobody wanted to be, hopefully the latter. A happier part of the ride was looking at the fall colors, which seemed to be particularly beautiful around Pillager Lake. The reds, yellows, browns, and left over greens pulling your view away from the dank swamp underneath. Once we arrived Mrs. Lund gave us a briefing on how the day was going to go and we unloaded the bus and spread out to start fishing. Everyone had a fishing pole and was eager to fish. Most had basic grey fishing rods with other colors mingled in, but some had more exotic rods, my favorite being a blood red rod. Mine was grey and black with small red lines circled around the rod at each hoop. I had a magnificent bobber on with a vibrant neon orange on top and pure white on the bottom. On my line was a unique piece of equipment that no one else seemed to have. It's a long piece of metal that connects with the lure on one end and the line on the other, this equipment is for keeping a fish from chewing off the line. …show more content…

Another group walked to the smaller dock farther down the beach and two others fished off of the beach. Starting off most people hooked the night crawlers, because Lund forgot the flax worms, and not many people caught fish. Bo caught 3 fish, tiny nibblers, right off the dock but nothing after that but nibbles. Austin and me almost had a few, but they were master nibblers, and got away with our bait every time.
