Eleanor was reading in the living room, curled up with her favorite book in the armchair by the window. The grandfather clock ticked loudly, but it was easy to ignore. After a few hours, the sound of the pendulum swinging from side to side was a comforting sound. The gentle sound was interrupted by a deafening knock, sending her copy of the Great Gatsby tumbling out of her hands.
