Personal Narrative: The Hoover Dam

I Believe…
Did you know that the Hoover Dam on Lake Mead was once called the Boulder Dam?
Also, that when the dam was first built Lake Mead overflowed. I wasn’t born yet of course, but
I’ve spent a good amount of my time at this lake. It was summertime and we were heading to
Lake Mead, I was around eleven years old at the time. I believe that going to the lake can help calm a stressed or confused mind.
When we got to the lake it was around eleven o’clock, surprisingly the lake was covered in fog. Usually by that time you’re able to see all the way to the other side of this humongous lake. However, personally I didn’t want to go to the lake, because I had played a baseball game the night before in which I didn’t do too well. Also, I was still tired from it since we left around six in the morning. I didn’t say a single word the whole ride there since I was asleep for more than three fourths of that painful drive. Even thought my mood was sour, going to Lake Mead just changed my mood to a more glad and joyful mood. We went to a beautiful place on the lake called the narrows. Its where two sides of the lake or two mountains get closer and closer to each other, but they don’t ever touch. Of course, it’s big enough for boats to get in and out of. People call it the narrows because it’s narrow compared to the other parts of the lake. The beautiful scenery of this place made me feel relaxed and not tense. This huge body of water calms my mind since there are so many things you could do. For example, wakeboarding or tubing is a great way to put a smile on someone’s face.
