“Wade in the water. Wade in the water, children. Wade in the water. God’s going to trouble the water,” the slaves sang as they did their daily work. Link
It’s June 16, 2016, and I’m in Eagle River. I’m thinking to myself, “Why am I here? I am not in the mood for this. This isn’t what I planned for. I should be walking through the competitor gates, not the gates for the stands and raffles.”
Mackinac Island. Never thought I would be here, but I was, FOR REAL! We got off the boat and waited for our bikes to come out of the boat. We got our bikes and started our route around the island. We rode about half a mile, when my cousin Andie said she had to go to the bathroom.
It was a Friday night. We were thrilled to be out of school, it had been a long week. I was on a short leash with my teachers since me and my pals Barry and John brought stink bombs to school and stunk up the whole cafeteria. At least twenty kids had to go home sick. Needless to say, it was the prank of the year.
Today something amazing happened. Nature opened my eyes, dusted the dirt off my pants, and kissed me on the cheek, all with one breath. The sensation was beyond beautiful. It was afternoon and the sun was just beginning to set. The clouds were there dancing in the blue sky, but they were faint.
The drive was almost unbearable, but the thought of spending the week in the snow with family kept me going. It was only a four hour drive, but at 9 years old, it felt like an eternity. The scenery slowly changed from flat land, to rolling hills. The hills were covered in yellow dying grass, but they were still beautiful. Then we started to make the climb.
It was my seventh grade year. We went down to Florida for my sister’s senior year spring break trip. It was nice to have my parents, my sisters and me all vacationing together; we were sure to have a good time. We were staying at a resort in Kissimmee, Florida, a couple minutes away from Orlando. We had many activities planned, Disney parks, downtown Disney and my personal favorite: Cape Canaveral.
Hocking Hills It was a cloudy fall day, a cold feeling, and everything seemed calm. We were at hocking hills camping in cabins. The cabins were two stories with one room on the second story and two rooms on the first story. The cabin was built with brown wood with a tint of orange.
CHAPTER EIGHT A Creepy Castle Our next calamity occurred soon after the big-mouthed rooster in my barn crowed well before dawn—around four A.M. I rolled over and peered into the darkness. I was tired and annoyed with the fowl fittingly named Mr. Cock-A-Doodle-A-Lots. On top of that, I still felt a little uneasy after last night’s troll crone catastrophe. Why, then, did I also feel so . . .
Black Water “You don’t understand. Your baby is going to die.” I tried to focus on the words coming from the mouth of the doctor standing in front of me. Die? The word seemed foreign to me.
I had so much fun at the aquarium. I saw dolphins, sharks, and we even got to pet the sting rays. Next, we went to a nearby Turkish restaurant for lunch. We ordered 5 gyros, they were topped with a delicious white sauce and were so flavorful. Afterward we went to a park and played on the swings, went down the slide and climbed the monkey bars.
It was my first time ever visiting Disneyland. While we were waiting for the ferry my stomach felt like it was was upside down. I felt sick. I had never had a feeling like this. It was the most exciting moment of my entire life.
Finally my last favorite activity is being in the ocean. It was my first im in the ocean and it tasted bad. Anyway one of the days we went seashell hunting I stepped on a jellyfish but my shoes where on and then we ended up swimming in the water for like ten minutes. Another time we went on a banana boat ride to go parasailing.
We went to bed before the boys, they didn’t go to bed till around 5. Whenever we weren’t talking to the boys we played soccer in my basement. It was really fun until I kicked the ball to the wall and it broke. I got in a little trouble but it was really funny. Anyway, once we woke up we had Dunkin Donuts, I was pretty hype for that.
It all started on a summer day, I went to nags head beach with my family. We got a big beach house with my whole family and a few friends. This was about 4 years but it feels like it was just the other day. We went at the very end of the summer. It was still nice and warm outside.
