Personal Narrative: The Liberty Park Community

Liberty Park is a small residential community outside Hinesville city limit. The Liberty park community is in a closer view of 15th West Street. The community has a bigger population of residence consisting of both civilian and military affiliated individuals. I have been a residence of Liberty Park community for the past two years. Despite the beautiful houses that beckon onlookers, my two years have been filled with struggles and challenges. I have regretted my decision to move my family to this community. The reason being that the community lacks basic amenities, safety and security, and surrounding drainage ponds are unkempt. The roads in the community don’t have any speed limits signs. This is surprising because right outside the community, the state roads have proper and clearly marked speed limits. Unmarked speed limit poses danger to the residence, especially our children. Most drivers passing drive at extremely high speeds because there are no speed signs and police rarely come to the community. Parents are forced to lock their children in the house and limit their outside play time to only when one is in supervision. Road drainage is poor in the area especially when there are floods. The floods that occur during rainy seasons cause walking tracks to be completely submerged due to lack of drainage. While riding on the streets, one has to wade through stagnant water in the middle of the road hoping your car makes it through. My other concern is the small swimming pool that we all have to share. The community has hundreds of people with one very small swimming pool whose access is not guaranteed. It has reached a point where the pool operates on first come first serve basis. The whole summer my children hardly got the privilege of swimming in the pool because either the pool was overcrowded or the association changes combination locks without informing residents. Lack of enough swimming pools and high speeders, caused the parents to take their children to other recreational
