On May 30 2013 someone was saying to his friend, Ciara“Alright Ciara, I need to tell; you this now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Also, there’s some bad news… I have to evacuate my home. There’s an extremely large fire maybe 15 miles from my house and heading this way..” and he sent her “I can see the flames from my house! I’m packed, and evacuating. Just hope my house doesn’t burn. And if it does, then.. idk I’ll miss you, and try to get in contact sometime.”. Not only was she heartbroken, it also sparked interest in her on the fire. “Yuccas catch fire as the Powerhouse fire makes a fast run toward Lake Hughes on June 1, 2013 south of Lake Hughes, California. The 32,000-acre wildfire destroyed numerous homes. More than 2,000 firefighters have been working in hot, dry conditions to establish containment lines around 60 percent of the fire as of June” (just an fyi the guy is fine, his house didn’t burn down) "Driving away, you could see the town burning up, I don't think there's going to be much left." -anonymous resident who evacuated. It destroyed 53 structures and threatened a total of 1,000 at the fire’s peak. “About 1,000 structures were threatened in the burn area, he said. Three firefighters have been injured, and 960 firefighters, assisted by planes and helicopters, were expected to keep up the aerial and ground assault against flames on Saturday. The blaze was 20 percent contained, said John Wagner of the U.S. Forest Service.” Nearly 2,800 people were evacuated near Lake Hughes, California. Winds were flying at a speed of 20-25 mph and picked up the fire and encouraged it to spread further. The forest fire destroyed 53 buildings and burned 30,000 acres of land and forest.
