Personal Narrative: Vons Grocery Store

As I bagged my first grocery bag i picked up a Lucerne carton of eggs. My hands got cold from picking it up and putting them gently into the bag. I made sure that it goes on the bottom of the Vons plastic bag. Next a loaf of bread came down the belt from the scanner to the end of the check stand where i picked up the bread. I didn’t want to grab it too hard or I would smash it. And made sure that the carton of eggs and the bread don’t get smashed on the way home from the Vons grocery store. Because if anything gets smashed or breaks the customer will most likely call the store and complain. Then a supervisor would call me over and say that their eggs, chips, or milk spilled or broke. And about a month and a half I received a email from their career center saying that they were having job interviews at two of their local stores. One of the stores that was having an interview was in Thousand Oaks. I called my mom and told her the great news. She was very happy, i could hear it in her voice. Then she asked me, “what time were they having the interviews.” I responded and said, “At noon.” So she said that she would pick me up on her lunch break and drive me to the store. I got dressed and wore a nice button up shirt to make good impression. And on the way, I started to get nervous and get butterflies in my stomach. My mom looked at me and said, “It’s fine just be yourself.” We arrived and wait in the sitting area by Starbucks. There was quite a few people there. We had to wait for a bit before it was my turn. Eventually it was my turn and i went into the office with the manager named Travis. I was thinking to myself, this it take some deep breaths and be yourself, and don’t screw this up. I sat in one of the two rolly chairs that were in the office. Travis asked me how I’m doing and I replied by saying “Fine and nervous at the same time.” “Don’t be nervous, it’s really easy. I going to ask you some questions and you just answer them. ok” “ok” I said.
