My beliefs and values about education is based on the understanding that all students are unique individuals who need support, structure, and a secure environment to learn. These students will grow and develop emotionally, socially, cognitively, and physically. Children around the age of 12 are at a critical age of development. It is my personal belief that education shapes individuals into the people we become and provides guidance in our lives. Teachers and students play an equal part in the learning process. Effective teachers can have a positive impact on any student's and make a significant difference in the life of their students. My philosophy on secondary education and the elements that are critical for development comes from the views and beliefs of experimentalism, progressivism, multiculturalism, and influences from philosophers such as Dewey, Piaget, Montessori, and Vygotsky. I believe young individuals will grow and develop with the help of educators possess the following elements: teachers see themselves as intentional, responsive, and respectful facilitators of learning, communicate and build relationships with students, and implement an effective curriculum.
