In my life athletics and associated activities have almost always played a big role. This steadily became more true and evident in my time attending Moss Point HighSchool. Through multiple activities in Navy Junior ROTC I have learned that aside from enjoying athletic competitions the things I have learned in relation to how exercise and dieting effect my overall health. Because of this I have started to take better care of myself and exercised more to help stay healthy and do my best to have a well rounded diet. Also, I have learned how terrible processed sugars are for one’s body and slowly eliminated most of the processed sugars from my diet. Another thing I haveve learned from athletics is that it is one way to set an example to those around you, not the type of example that says “ I can do this better than you”, but an example that says this is the standard I hold myself to and I will continue to push its’ limits and my own as well. This has also taught me in a few ways some leadership skills. The primary example I can provide being that I should never ask someone to physically do something I can not do, have not done, or not willing to do myself. This does not mean mean I have to do everything I ask of somebody, but it reminds me that I must always set an example myself if I expect other people to put forth the effort to achieve anything. Another one of the leadership skills I have learned is that as a leader, or an athlete, one must use their self-motivation to push others to do their very best. Whether this is just bringing a positive attitude to your team or cheering from the sides for your fellow team
