Empathy is an important component to teaching because educators have students that have different burdens that lug on their shoulders. I believe my strongest asset is the ability to empathize with others. Throughout my educational career, my parents have always been supportive in my pursuit to success. I am the first generation of my family members to grow up in the United States, so I feel obligated to utilize the opportunities that my parents never had growing up. My parents were born and raised in Hamadan, Iran. After the Shah left for exile in 1979, this began the start of the Iranian revolution. During this revolution, the country was in shambles. She wanted to be a role model for her future children. After I was born she decided to get enrolled into the nearby community college and received her degree in business. Education is important to my parents because they are firm believers in it being the pathway to success. I decided to continue my education at the University of North Georgia because I wanted to be a part of an institution that my parents and I could be proud of. Becoming a teacher has always been a passion of mine. I have always taken on opportunities where I could spread awareness or knowledge to others. Whether it was a classroom setting or a testimony at church, I have always felt inclined to help people in any way that I can. I believe this has a great deal to do with how I empathize with others. This calling I feel towards teaching is more than just a career in my eyes. There’s no amount of money that could overcome the satisfaction I will feel after helping students pursue their goals. When students go to school with their burdens, it’s hard for them to focus on their school work. I want to be the educator in their lives that will give them hope for a successful future. I believe my choice to become a teacher is what my parents and I can both be proud
