My love for Japanese culture started at a young age when I was introduced to anime and video games as a child like most people, but grew from a casual interest to a passion. As an avid learner, I educated myself on the culture and history of Japan from reading about Shinto Mythology to the forging process for katana. By participating in the JET Programme, I hope to further my understanding and learning of Japanese culture and history as well as share my own culture with others. I am confident I will make a good ALT because I am prompt, organised and willing to be flexible. In addition, I am very adaptable so I believe I will transition well into living in Japan. During my time at university I was a very clear and confident speaker as I have had to produce and pitch many presentations both short and long in front of large audiences. I have also signed up to take a TEFL course which I believe will help me strengthen the key skills needed to be a great ALT, such as building good rapport with students. During my time there I have proven that I can communicate clearly to strangers of varying backgrounds and I am an efficient teacher being able to train and support new staff effectively.
