As a high school student, I’ve always strived to improve myself and develop my character through interactions with other students. Every week I look back, reflect, and draw lessons on the week before, improving myself step by step, through small but steady increments. At school, I see myself as a tacit leader, a leader not necessarily through words, but rather through actions and examples—taking into account the image that I exude and actions that represent who I am. Hence, as mentioned before, I am always finding new ways to better myself and seeking new opportunities to hone my leadership skills. As a current troop guide and former patrol leader, I have planned and executed many communal activities like scouting for food, local wildlife preservation, and a variety of scout outings. I joined boy scouts in the second grade, when my parents thought that joining my local Cub Scout pack would be an ideal way to deplete my seemingly inexhaustible source of energy. Cub scouts began merely as a chore, but through my maturation and entrance into boy scouts, I realized that participation in boy scouts refined my leadership skills and gave me confidence to lead and take initiative.
Throughout the years of my boy scouts experience, the pinnacle was my involvement in the National Youth Leadership Program—an intensive 1 week camp designed to hone each aspiring Eagle Scout’s leadership skills. During the camp, I learned valuable leadership skills, enhanced my ability to work fluently with others, and strengthened my drive and ambition as a leader. After attending the camp and volunteering at numerous eagle projects, I was inspired to embark on my own eagle project; I am currently in the process of executing a garden renovation for my local Abode homeless
