Community service has always impacted and motivated me in a positive way. Growing up, my parents ensured that community service was not just done for the hours, but for gratification. compassion, empathy, and leadership have been the three most rewarding attributes of serving others. Volunteering at the Latin American Association (LAA) as an Assistant English Second Language teacher was the most significant experience that I have had. Working closely with the Latin American Community in Atlanta made me realize that it is satisfying to help improves the lives of others. Traveling to a different country to live can be overwhelming and uncomfortable. Most speak broken English or do not comprehend the language in entirety. Pushing the boundaries of Spanish speaking student’s intellectual capability enabled me to justify why learning and understanding English as a second language is so important. Being fluent in English will advance the chances of finding opportunity in America. High paying and respected jobs will emerge, but most importantly communication with native English speakers will come naturally. Bilingualism is a huge characteristic of mine that I take pride in. Using my successful communication skills with my students propelled intellectual curiosity to scrutinize deeper into the English language. The astonishing feeling derived after witnessing a student grasp the concept of verbs, pronouns, pronunciation, etc. is fruitful. Community service at the Latin American Association impacted my life because I motivated others to be absolute. As I ponder, my experience indisputably allows me to understand why I aspire to become a bilingual
