During the month of December 2016, I attended a Computer Science seminar at the University of Waterloo. Waterloo’s Mathematics faculty is globally recognized due to their exceptional learning experience and student success rate. However, it was only after I attended this seminar, partook in a few computer science lessons, and received a campus tour that I truly realized that this university was my ideal option. The field of computing and technology has continuously captivated my interest, thus explaining why my high school electives and activities/clubs have revolved around computing and business. This seminar identified the key characteristics of a leader, advised us on how to improve our leadership skills, and taught us how to create a resume/attend an interview. Furthermore, these extracurricular activities have helped build my employability skills, including: effective communication, time management, organizational skills, setting realistic goals, and most importantly completing an objective. I will be continuing to partake in activities within university, as they have been very beneficial to my learning.

My mind operates in a logical and structure-based manner; when I encounter a problem, I tend to dissect the problem in an organized structure and attempt to find creative and logical solutions. Computer Science works the similarly, where finding more creative and efficient solutions to a problem is its key objective. Due to this clear correlation, I believe that I would be perfect for the field of computer/computer science. Furthermore, The University of Waterloo’s environment promotes innovation and challenging student’s minds. I enjoy challenging myself and Waterloo’s environment will keep me focused and busy.
