I have gained significant experience in the marketing and communications industry since leaving University, I have been able to utilise the communications based skills I have acquired in my academic career working for a range of businesses and charitable organisations.
I believe communication and writing skills to be an extremely important asset to a marketing or communications based role. I consider myself an extremely adaptable writer, able to adapt my writing to a diverse target audience. I also take pride in my communication skills when promoting information through social media or at networking events.

I understand the importance of utilising digital marketing techniques such as social media for any organisation, particularly an organisation focused on communicating with students. In many cases a student’s first impression of a university may be as a result of the university’s website, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube pages, therefore I understand the importance of maintaining an informative and effective online presence.

Desirable
Working with the Stephens & George Centenary Charitable Trust, I had the opportunity to create marketing material designed to appeal directly to students. The Charitable Trust was created with the aim of improving literacy levels in the local community, a crucial aspect of my role included drafting press releases to recruit students to our reading support volunteers programme. Essential
I have worked within the marketing and communications based industry for three years since leaving university, I have considerable experience developing digital marketing strategies and more traditional print based marketing working for one of the country’s leading print organisations.

Having worked for a charitable organisation, a digital marketing agency and in a larger marketing team with the Stephens & George Print Group, I believe I have acquired a diverse understanding of the marketing industry. I have experience drafting content specifically for students with the charitable trust as well as experience of marketing on a business to business level.

Desirable
I have experience managing YouTube channels during my time as a digital marketing officer, was responsible for uploading and editing the videos and promoting them through social media. I understand the important role audio-visual content can provide in promoting the University to potential students. I also work with the graphic designer in my current role to produce printed marketing
