Why do you want to work with us? After researching and reading about the Play to Prevent Internship opportunity, I realized the impact it has on the community and the impact it has on educating and empowering girls. I also saw the experience one could gain from this program. I was particularly inspired how it encouraged women to pursue their dreams, especially their dreams to achieve a STEM major. This is very significant since many women are suppressed for wanting to pursue a STEM career. I also realized the amazing opportunities it would give a high school student to oversee and conduct research. I always try to bring the feeling of community, closeness, and comfort wherever I go to work or learn. I enjoy coming up creative ideas to help a project or assignment, but I also love hearing other people’s unique ideas, which can benefit this project too. I always know never to suppress an idea, because every idea has potential to be life and world changing. I have been known for my determination, and helpfulness. From starting as a below average student to working hard to receive a prestigious merit scholarship from my high school and middle school, I was able to learn a lot from my struggles, but also see the value of hard work. I feel I would need to work on becoming a more efficient speaker. I would also like to work on my communication skills, especially on a professional environment. I would like to learn more about programming and computer software, especially how to develop an app and how to execute a research project. From this internship, I hope to gain experience that is more valuable so that I am able to apply my knowledge from school to the real applicable world. Even though I may create new ideas, sometimes I am not too confident in my thoughts, and try to shy them away. I would like to work on communicating my ideas more proficiently to learn improved communication
