Performing surgeries, administering antibiotics, and interacting with patients are some of the first ideas that come to mind, when someone thinks of what takes place in a doctor’s daily routine. However, not all doctors’ lives are the same, for there are many fields of medicine, and doctors in each field have unique experiences. In addition, because each branch of medicine is different, there are specific requirements and skills one branch has that another does not. While doctors, in general, are seen as those who help people recover from an illness or injury, the wide array of specialties offers numerous choices for prospective medical students to choose from. Next, I will need to apply to a medical school, so I can train and earn a medical degree. Then, I will have to graduate from medical school, complete my residency, and become certified , so I can search for jobs and practice medicine. After that, I will have many opportunities to move forward in my career. For example, I can volunteer abroad or go on medical missions, in order to help those in developing countries or areas, where medical attention is scarce or not as advanced. Although the requirements and skills needed for each of these branches do have similarities, there are differences as well. For instance, as discussed on Medicalschoolhq.net, a student planning to become a cardiologist will focus on studying internal medicine during residency, as the heart and other organs in the body are linked, so it is necessary to know how each organ functions. In comparison, one studying neurology will focus on psychology, ethics, and anatomy, because the brain and the nerves are connected, so it is important to understand how they function throughout the body. Although doctors in all medical fields should have a good understanding of the human body, each specialty has its owns skills, which are specific to the field and its tasks
