I am ambitious and motivated to study accounting and finance. I have a strong interest in the subject area and I am determined to establish a career within this field.
Currently I have enjoyed studying and applying a range of business theory to real world business case studies and I have a good understanding of a range of theory and business functions. I have also enjoyed producing financial documents, such as the trading/profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flows. Furthermore I have a strong knowledge of ICT and I believe that this will help with the cost management of accountancy. I worked within the Business Recovery Department and found it fascinating to learn about the financial issues such as the economic down fall caused by the recession and problems that small businesses face and how these can be solved by efficient financial management. I completed a range of tasks including entering data for small business balance sheets, invoicing and I also dealt with a number of their clients. I have also completed many financial tasks within my family's business. I have assisted in a variety of tasks that include banking, invoices and stock-taking. Contributing to these duties in the family business has both inspired and stimulated me to become an accountant. I was the Finance Director of a student enterprise business within the Leeds Enterprise Advisory Programme during Year 12. This role involved completing double entry book keeping and general budgeting. I enjoyed the responsibility of the role and it helped me to understand further how accountancy works and has also taught me how to work towards deadlines in a given period of time. I appreciate the use of my ICT skills and knowledge in order to produce accurate spread sheets which highlighted the accounts such as profit and loss, purchases and cost all using Excel.
