Statement of Personal Achievements
It was the end of my junior year of high school that I decided to immigrate to the United States. I was motivated to come to America from Hong Kong for my education. I also aimed to broaden my perspective on life. As a new immigrant and young adult, my life completely changed within these two years. After all the obstacles I overcame, I am now a responsible, self- motivated and independent person. Universities in the United States were completely different from Hong Kong. The first semester of studying, I felt extremely lonely because whenever I faced difficulties, I relied on my friends to help me. In order to build relationships with my peers, I read local magazines and watched television shows to expand my knowledge and social circle. The hard work paid off and I improved my English speaking and reading skills. For the first few months in the university, I could not completely follow my teachers' procedures. English is my second language, therefore attending English and elective classes such as Business, Civil Law, or Economics were another challenge. I did not understand the slang and local languages my teachers used in class. The subjects were unlike the typical classes I chose in Hong Kong so the jargon was confusing to me. However, I reminded myself that I had the potential to achieve excellent academic results. I worked hard to earn good grades because not everyone is lucky to gain the opportunity to study aboard. I foresee myself working in a dynamic, multitasking workplace through engaging in team works and conducting meeting with professional financial advisers or investment consultants. With my financial and quantitative analysis skills, I aim to devote the innovative values to a corporation that promote revolution-forecasting process in investment. Since in class projects, I have built up a financial portfolio to conduct an overview of well established public financial firms, I strongly look forward to a career that will provide me the opportunity to apply the statistical information into professional global financial services for clients. Since I am accustomed exposure to complex financial analysis, I desire to apply my qualifications in my career to help precede the delivery of excellent investment services for clients.
