Going to university has always been a goal of mine. I wanted to attend university because I want to eventually get a job that could help support me and my family. I was raised by a single mother so I understand the sacrifices that have to be made to get an education and I am willing to do whatever it takes to make my plans a reality. Like most first and second year students I have struggled with deciding which profession I wanted to eventually work in. There are so many choices. My interest in computer science began after I took a course in high school. Taking a computer science class was a completely different experience compared to other courses that I had taken up to that point. Solving problems in computer science class kept my brain active and it helped me evaluate my thinking when engaged in solving the problems that our teacher provided to us. This interest increased my desire to learn more about this field and technology in general. As a result, I decided that computer science was a subject that I wanted to pursue. While I am dedicated to achieving my goal of getting a degree in Computer Science, my immediate concern is having the money to reach that goal. I currently work part time 30 hours a week, and this affects how much time I can spend on my studies. I would like to be able to work less and spend more time on my academics which is necessary to attain good grades. Computer science is a relatively new subject that has emerged in all parts of the world, and it is one of the most sought after jobs. As time goes on, the competition will increase and the number of available jobs may decline, so I would like to get my degree in a timely fashion so I can find employment in a job that I will find personally fulfilling. While I have yet to decide on a specific job in computer science, there are a couple of fields that interest me. Video game developer and User Experience Designer were the first ones that came to mind when I was considering computer science as a career. As a young child, I grew up with technology, and I am amazed at how much they have advanced in the last few years, and how much potential they still have to grow. I also find it interesting how much impact the design has on people, such as how certain designs have a better attraction overall compared to others, as well as how the smallest changes of a design can influence their behaviour, like eliminating small bits of a design to enhance it and attract people. Due to the passion I have for people, and my desire to make something that will bring satisfaction to them, being one of the mentioned two developers to actually develop a game or design that captures the minds of countless people
