Harvard Business School Personal Statement The desire in my life is to encourage a large number of people whom I come in contact with by building a business that encompasses fitness, physical therapy, and personal training. Another goal I have in mind for my fitness business is that I am to provide professional mentorship programs to members. These programs consist of motivational speakers such as Eric Thomas, Les Brown, and T.D. Jakes. The speakers are meant to provide expert guidance for members in regards to staying fit and healthy. The wish to make the world a better place both physically and spiritually is what drives me, for my inspiration comes from the vision of always aspiring to become a Navy Seal. I grew up with two brothers, who both found themselves along the two paths on which minority blacks fall, meaning either prison or the grave. My oldest brother's murder was an act of gang violence; ironically, the reason was that my brother had attempted to leave the gang to better himself. Additionally, my other brother received three gunshot wounds during a botched drug deal which resulted in his conviction on felony weapons and drug charges. Since I learned from watching my brothers ruin their lives, I grew up in a society where fighting to leave that environment and follow a path of success remained the only solution. Hence, I perceive as well as comprehend the challenges plus criticisms one encounters. I can now draw from those experiences by applying them to the principles and mission of Harvard Business School to “educate leaders who make a difference in the world”. Therefore, I believe these experiences will produce a business that appeals to the masses. No one believed I could follow through on my goals. However, my resilient nature allowed me to pursue the path to the United States Naval Academy. While at the Naval Academy, I refined my character traits of leadership and teamwork, in addition to a strong work ethic. I believe my time at the Naval Academy in addition to my service as an officer in the military will tremendously benefit me as well as my classmates if I am accepted into Harvard Business
