On Monday December 7, 2015 I was given the opportunity to interview a lovely lady who enjoys her job tremendously. Upon asking her the questions or prompts I found that this job like that of being a teacher can be a very rewarding and uplifting career. Although the path to this career will be a long and strenuous work load the final reward working with families about to lose a loved one will be fulfilling. In this career you must have a strong heart, being open to listening and putting your own feelings aside to help others. A person with this career must be familiar with their community to be a better support to their families. As a Medical Social Worker your job does not end when you go home at five, it can be a job that requires you to be available in the middle of the night, as a family may need extra support that a listening ear provides. This job is not for the weak at heart since you are comforting family members when there loved ones pass from this earth. After doing my interview with Ms. McDonald I have found that it has only increased my want for the knowledge to do more, and continue to find a way to support and work with both the elderly and the young. In helping to be an eighty-three year old ladies caregiver over the last several years I have found that it is emotionally satisfying to know that you have provided to their needs and wants in their time of need. I believe that being knowledgeable and caring of other persons feeling are what will help me to accomplish becoming a Medical Social Worker, however there are things in myself that I found would be a weakness to this career. I am not a strong person when death is before me, I can be strong for other but am not strong when it would affect me
