Personal Statement: A Career As A Medical Assistant

To begin with, ever since I was a child I have been involved in the medical field. My father was a firefighter, paramedic, and physician’s assistant, while my mother was a medical assistant at a dermatology center. Besides their occupations, both of my parents have always practiced and preached living a healthy lifestyle, encouraging exercise and good nutrition, as they both previously were competitive body builders as well. My father, being a Physician’s Assistant, leaned towards more western ideals, while my mother preferred holistic and more natural modalities of healing. Being a product of the two, I have come to prefer the concepts of integrative medicine, resulting in my profound interest in Chiropractics.
Moreover, I was fortunate enough to have frequented a Chiropractor from a young age. My Chiropractor, Dr. Dave Gollinger, became a great family friend over the years and one of my biggest role models growing up, as you could see his innate desire to help others. I was always fascinated with how adjusting the spine affected my daily function and how it made me feel better. While I have been taught to practice living a healthy lifestyle since my adolescence, many others are not as fortunate. Obtaining my Bachelors of Science in Sports and Exercise Science has furthered my understanding of the health sciences, however it has also fueled my desire to expand my education even further, in anticipation of one day helping others and educating them on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Aside from helping people, I have always loved animals, and most people do not realize that they can benefit from therapeutic modalities as well. Thus, I am very interested in the animal chiropractic electives this institution
