Purpose: “Hi Jerry! I heard that your last experience with a social worker didn’t work out so well, so I’m hoping that we can work things out together and get you comfortably placed in our work training program. The main purpose over the course of our meetings will be to collaborate and work alongside each other so that we are able to get you back to work and a find steady job for you. I want to help you as much as I can and will do my best to connect you to some helpful resources. Along the way we might address any other needs you may have and look at ways that we can work on them together. It’s important for you to know that I cannot provide some of the resources you may want or need such as welfare or food stamps, but I can connect you and give you ways to access those resources on your own. It’s my hope that we’ll be able to work well together with your best interest at the forefront.

I truly love working with people and doing what I can help those in need. One of my strengths is seeing the best in others, helping them to see their own potential and aiding them in maximizing that potential. I promise to do the best I can to help you with your needs and concerns and will help you maximize your own strengths. I will be honest with you, though, and let you know that I don’t have as much experience as some of the other social workers here, but I will help you to the best of my abilities.
