I’d like to be an assistant house manager because I want to be able to keep the house as great as it is. Without some sort of authority to keep the brothers in line the house will be disrespected and slowly deteriorate. I’d like to have a responsibility in keeping this historic house on campus for as long as possible and allow other to appreciate the house as much as I do. I feel as if the main duty of an assistant house manager is to keep the house clean and to assist the house manager with anything he needs done. Many brothers make messes, leave trash laying around, and do not pick up after themselves which is unacceptable. I have no problem cleaning and organizing things, in-fact i sort of enjoy making things look super clean and perfect to the eye. In many cases once I start something I’m not satisfied until it is complete. This directly applies to cleaning, once I start to pick up a few clothes off my dorm room floor soon enough my whole room is spotless. One way I would motivate my fellow pledge brothers to come clean the house would be to offer a free smoke down in the gold room if they help me clean for 15-20 minutes. This is sure to catch many brother’s attention and get the job done. No one can deny a Rouches pearled joint. I think a great way to make the 5 am more meaningful would be to have the pledges physically build something like a beer pong table or repaint the gold room or paint a mural/letters in the house. Making them build something, fix something or paint will allow them have more respect for the house. They will be improving the house at the dreaded 5 am which benefits all, but it will also give them more pride for the house since they did something to make the place look better. They would then be less likely to cause destruction since they made an improvement themselves. Why would you want to destroy something that you made or
