My specific employer that I researched is Sally Hershberger, who is a famous and successful cosmetologist. I found her very interesting and I love her products. Plus, I wanted to research a cosmetologist who owns her own salons and her own hair products. Sally is a very well accomplished cosmetologist. She owns three salons, which include Sally Hershberger Uptown, Sally Hershberger Downtown, and Sally Hershberger Los Angeles. With great success comes a long history of how she got to where she is today. I already have the knowledge that when I’m hired, I won’t be the head honcho. Usually someone who is new at a place, they start out small, like a desk job, or a stylist if that is what’s needed. Your title when you become a part of the business you may be a barber, a receptionist, stylist, hairdresser, a nail tech, etc. Luckily, in cosmetology there is more than one field you could enter. In fact, there is a wide variety of things you could do with just a cosmetology license. The possibilities in this line of work are endless. Before we start rushing into a career, we need to know about our education! You can’t just roll into a career you don’t fully understand! The amount of year that you will need for this career is between two-four years. For example, Apollo Career Center is a two year program for high school kids. During your senior year you go down to Columbus and take a series of tests to weigh your amount of skills, and if you pass, you would then be a licensed cosmetologist. This wouldn’t be of any help if you are already out of high school; therefore, your next option is the Ohio State Beauty Academy. This is 1-4 years, depending on what field you would like to enter. In both of these educational programs, you will learn a variety of basic skills. These include; cutting, coloring, perming, massages, nails, makeup application, facials and specific treatments for the hair, styling business …show more content…

I feel that from researching this career thoroughly, I know that this is the career I hope to do with the rest of my life. Before I came to Apollo I would spend my summers watching YouTube hair tutorials and then I would invite friends over and force them to sit while I do their hair all night. I was so intrigued with numerous styles and ways you could maneuver the hair. Soon I became very good at braiding and styling hair, that every school event like a prom or homecoming or sports events ,school musicals/concerts, that I would be bombarded by girls that wanted their hair done. To me, doing hair was very simple, and I told myself I HAD to get into Apollo. I turned in my application early and soon enough I was accepted and here I am. Ultimately, this research has caused me to ponder on the information and I realized that this career is a fantastic one. I will get to meet new people every day, and help them out by bringing out their inner beauty. By this project, I hope that I will take this information, really soak it in, and use it in my future life as a cosmetologist. As for my success in this career, I know I will do awesome! I am a huge people person, and I love the fact that most cosmetologists have a bond with their regular clientele and I think that is the coolest thing to have.
